THE PARADOX OF DEATH & LIVING

“Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.” — John 12:24 (KJV)

In 2023, I found myself in a season of deep struggle. Illness, a heavy heart, and lost enthusiasm had drained me of all my energy. It felt like life had taken everything I cared about, and I was left standing on the edge, ready to give up. I thought about the seed that falls to the ground and seemingly dies, but what I didn’t realise at that time was that my brokenness was not the end of me but the beginning of something new.

In the middle of it all, a voice called out to me: “beBOLD.” It wasn’t just a slogan or a brand; it was a reminder. It was a wake-up call that no matter how dark things got, I still had the power to rise. I still had the strength to fight for a life of purpose. I could choose to turn my pain into something beautiful, something that would bring glory to God.

The “beBOLD” message became my anchor. It reminded me that true strength isn’t about avoiding hardships but about facing them head-on, with the courage to grow through them. I learned that adversity has the power to shape us into something greater, if we allow it. It’s in our brokenness that we often find our greatest strength.

Like that seed in the ground, I had to surrender. It was in my moments of weakness that I started to understand a simple truth: what feels like death sometimes gives birth to something more beautiful than we could ever imagine. Through every challenge, I found pieces of myself I didn’t know existed, and slowly, I began to rebuild, stronger and more determined than before.

“beBOLD” is my personal story, but it’s also a message to anyone who’s struggling, who feels like they’ve lost everything: there is life after the breaking. It’s okay to fall. It’s okay to feel lost. What matters is that we get back up and trust that the process of pain is the beginning of something better.

Just like the seed, we must permit ourselves to break open, to let go, and to trust that the life on the other side will be more than we could have ever dreamed. In those moments of hardship, it’s easy to forget that growth is happening beneath the surface. But the truth is, we don’t grow in comfort; we grow in the struggle.

Life doesn’t always come easy, but it’s in those hard seasons that we find our deepest purpose. Let’s choose to live boldly—not despite our struggles, but because of them.
