Part 1 of 5 – Eden & Purpose

Recently, I shared my thoughts on why young men do not need to wait until they are rich before getting married. I listed a few keys to consider, and the responses were mixed. Some people agreed, while others pushed back. From those reactions, I realised I needed to explain these keys in more detail.

So today begins a five-part series. And I want to start with the most important key: Eden and Purpose.

What Eden Really Means

When I mention Eden, I am not referring solely to the garden in Scripture. Eden represents the presence of God. It is the place where man finds direction, clarity, and purpose.

I believe that every person was created by God for a specific purpose. Your life is not random. There is work only you can do and an impact only you can make. And since God is the Creator, He alone can guide you into uncovering your true purpose.

Think about it like a craftsman in a Ghanaian village who carves a drum. The drum does not decide its use. The maker does. It is in the hands of the maker that the drum’s rhythm is revealed. In the same way, it is in the presence of God that your purpose is uncovered.

Purpose Is a Journey, Not an Event

Too many young men think purpose is something you discover once and for all, like finding a hidden treasure. But the purpose is more like farming. You do not simply plant once and harvest forever. Each season brings new work, discovery, and new growth.

Yes, every man must work, but ultimately, your work must align with your God-given purpose. And this discovery is not an event. It is a journey of continuous learning and unfolding.

Purpose Attracts Value

As you walk in your purpose, you begin to grow into a person of value. And value attracts value. Think about a market woman who consistently sells clean, fresh vegetables. People come to her again and again, and over time, her name spreads. Her faithfulness attracts customers, and customers bring income.

In the same way, walking in your purpose shapes you into someone people can trust, depend on, and invest in. That’s how money and wealth flow, not by chasing them first, but by becoming a man of value.

Purpose Shapes Your Choice in a Partner

One of the most important reasons to discover your purpose early is that it guides who you choose to marry. When you know where you are going, you also know who can walk with you.

In many African households, when a man wants to marry, the elders will ask, “Where is this young man going with his life?” They are not only asking about his job. They want to know if he has direction. Because if you do not know where you are going, you cannot know the kind of woman who will complement and strengthen your journey.

Final Thoughts

Eden and purpose are not just spiritual ideas. They are practical foundations for life and marriage. Every young man must settle this first. Before you think about rings, clothes, or ceremonies, think about presence and purpose.

Young brother, your purpose is not a one-time discovery. It is a continuous journey. As you grow into it, you will become a person of value. That value will not only open doors to wealth but also help you choose the right woman, a woman who will walk with you and help you fulfil your destiny.

This is the first step. And in the next part of this series, we will explore “Work and Responsibility” because marriage is not just about finding purpose but also about building the discipline to sustain it.
